Chutney Mary

Where:  Chelsea

Cuisine:  Modern Indian

Swank levels:  5/5
Chutney Mary is a fine dining restaurant to which swank comes naturally.
Renovated quite recently this is one of those restaurants which takes your breath away whilst instantaneously putting a smile on your face. What’s more this smile keeps growing the further you go into the restaurant.

Diners enter into a very comfortable lounge area and are guided down a Mogul mirror clad stairway into a beautifully romantic space. On the left there are rows of tables set amongst a luxuriously lit auburn backdrop, scattered with candles and jewels which sparkle and glow in the light. This isn’t an accident as the glass candelabra and lamps are specially designed to obtain this effect.

This charmingly sophisticated dining area doesn’t end here. Walk slightly further towards the right and you will emerge into a stunning glass structure. To call it simply a conservatory would be an insult, as this glasshouse is filled with lush green foliage, natural light and very comfortable seating.

Sophisticated, stylish and very surprising if you don’t know what to expect, Chutney Mary is simply stunning.

Would I Want Seconds?

The decor sets high expectations, and the food does not disappoint.

Chutney Mary’s menu offers varying delights from the diverse regions for India. The menu changes regularly but often features delectable starters, exquisitely spiced seafood and hearty kebabs.

What was imperious about the food here is the subtle flavourings. Indian spices have a tendency to either dominate or totally disappear in Indian food, but Chutney Mary is the master of harnessing and delivering an idyllic taste sensation.

My amazing Chaat

Twice Winner of Best Indian Restaurant in the UK from the Good Curry Guide, and awarded Indian Restaurant of the Year by the London Restaurant Awards presents a testament to just how good the food at Chutney Mary is.

Could I afford seconds?

Starters are prices between £8 - £11, Main Courses at £17- £26 and desserts at £7. As a result this may be a bit much for a casual night out, but Chutney Mary isn’t the place to go for a simple gathering. Instead if its pampering you’re looking for this is the ideal location.
Inspired by Goa

However, diners in the know will tell you that those who join their mailing list regularly receive special offers from Chutney Mary and its sister restaurants, including the current offer of  a substantial 33% of the final bill. Overall: Off the scale

It’s that good. Stunning decor designed to impress and indulge; friendly and genuine service with staff who are eager to please and cater to your requests; and most importantly delectable dishes where you are bound to like whichever dish you order. An ideal place for a proposal in fact!
